FWOPERA Cherry BLOSSOM Ball
Honoring Rae & Ed Schollmaier

The distinguished honorees at the 2006 Fort Worth Opera Ball were Ed and Rae Schollmaier.

Rae and Ed Schollmaier have given many years of both financial and personal support to the Fort Worth Opera. In addition to their work with the opera, the couple has been active in many civic and volunteer efforts, including Cook Children's Hospital and the Foundation of the American Academy of Ophthalmology. Ed Schollmaier is a trustee of Texas Christian University.

Ed Schollmaier graduated from the University of Cincinnati in 1956 and attended Harvard Graduate School of Business Administration, where he earned his MBA in 1958. He joined Alcon Laboratories in Pennsylvania in 1958 as a medical representative, and joined the home office in Fort Worth in 1961. As president of Alcon from 1972 to 1997 and chief executive officer for the last 20 years of that term, he oversaw broadening of the company's product line, expansion of research and development, and sales that grew from $25 million to over $2 billion.

The Fort Worth Opera is grateful for the support it has received from Rae and Ed Schollmaier, and is proud to recognize them as honorees of this year's Fort Worth Opera Ball .
